Hi-  Just wanted to let you know that Friday, October 20th, our class is having a pajama day.  The students are very excited.  They earned a pajama day when they filled up their , "Good Choice Bucket".  I am sending home a reminder note tomorrow- Thursday.  I also sent out a message on ClassDojo.  This is an app that I just learned about at last week's inservice day.  I am really excited about it!  It is a great way to share pictures and news about our class with with just our class.  It is also a great way to send and receive messages.  If you have not signed up yet- I would love it if you did.  I sent home invitations last week- just let me know if you need another one.

Hi-  Just wanted to tell you a few quick things:

    1.  We had our first fire drill of the school year and your children were amazing!  They lined up quickly and quietly, and waited outside- sooo quietly (which is not easy for little ones- but they nailed it. )  I was so proud of them.

    2.  School assembly tomorrow at 1:30.  Slideshow in the gym.  Students can wear their yellow shirts to show their Jackson pride!

    3.  We started our Environmental Print unit today- and the children were very excited.  I sent home a notice today asking them to bring in some environmental print that they may have around the house.

Wow!  it is hard to believe that it is already September 25th.  We are off to a great start.  We had a very busy month so far.  We are still working on our Student of Day books- we only have a few friends left!  We have also written some class books, Meet Our Class and  Kindergarten Be Quick, Kindergartener Jump over the Candlestick, and I am planning on making a third book this week, Kindergarten, Kindergartener Who Do You See?.  The students love to read the books that they wrote!

In math we are working on shapes and we have started our science unit on weather.  We are going to start our unit on Environmental Print this week- always a fun unit to start the year.

We also met our third grade book buddies.  Both the Kindergarteners and the Third Graders are  very excited and we are all looking forward to doing some fun activities together.

  • Welcome to Kindergarten

Posted by Amy Naggar on 9/5/2017 5:00:00 PM

Hi-  We are settling in nicely to Kindergaten.  I am ejoying getting to know your kiddos.  We spend a lot of time in September setting up routines and getting to each other, so that our year will run smoothly. :)  One of my favorite ways to get to know each student is to do a "Star of the Day" activity.  Every student gets a chance to be a star.  We count the letters in our stars name, clap out the letters in their name,  and mix up the letters (and the we have to put them back the right way) . We have 3 friends tell us why our star student is a Peacebuilder- (and I write that on the cover of their book), and finally, every student draws a picture of the Star.  Then we put the pictures together in a book for that special student to take home and share with his/her family! So, be on the lookout for that book. Since, we only do one star a day, it does take a while for every student to be the star,  but it is worth the wait!

A couple of upcoming date: September 6th- Patriot Spirit Day- wear you Patriots colors/clothes

Septmener 7th:  Picture Day (those forms went home in the blue folders on orientation.

    Hi-

I sent out an email reminder, but tomorrow is spirit day at the Jackson School.  The name of the day is : "Dynamic Duo Day".  (Kind of like a twin day) .  If the students do not have a "twin", they are welcome to wear a black shirt and jeans and be a twin with me and Mrs. Pesanello. : )  If your child does not wish to participate, that is fine , too.  Spirit Days are always optional.

FYI- a notice went home today about all the exciting things happening at the Jackson School this March- be on the lookout for that.

    Have a great night! : )
