  •  Resources for Families 

    • Second Step Curriculum access during COVID-19 

      Second Step is a research-based Social Emotional Curriculum that has opened its resources for free during the COVID-19 crisis. There are SEL activities for Grades Pre-K to Grade 5 that are easy to access. There is also information for Middle School students. There are also resources for families on ways to support SEL at home including webinars and access to children’s podcasts and mindfulness techniques. 

    • The Child Mind Institute 

      The Child Mind Institute is an independent, national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. This site offers telehealth information regarding setting up appointments as well as resources that provide information on various disabilities and traumatic events that impact the daily lives of students and their families. 

    • The National Child Traumatic Stress Network 

      The National Child Traumatic Stress Network provides information on supporting children and families through traumatic events through awareness and treatment options. This site also has information specific to COVID-19 and the impact on families.

    •  Kids Health 

      This site offers information on the healthy development of kids and teens in regards to their emotional, physical and social wellbeing. It has information by topic for parents, kids, teens and educators. 

    • 5 SEL Games to Play at Home 

      Understood.org is a site that provides information that supports families and students who have any type of learning roadblock.  This link shares 5 Games you can play at home with your elementary children to support their social-emotional well-being.

    • SEL Activities 

      This link has free SEL lesson and activities for elementary students on a variety of topics such as personal space, worry and coping with change

    • SEL Apps 

      This link provides a list of Apps that support SEL in young children by addressing feelings, calming techniques and self-regulation.

    • Stuck at Home

      Understood.org has a list of 20 activities students can do at home to stay busy and engaged.

    • Parent Portal for SEL/ 

      Aperture Education provides parents with a list of activities based on the CASEL competencies such as responsible decision making, self-management and relationship skills.

      Taproot has some free available resources in response to COVID for supporting the emotional wellbeing of students in both elementary and middle school.

      Edutopia provides many short but very relevant articles that focus on student learning, parent support and all aspects of child development for educators and families
