Hello!  This is a short week. I hope you get outside and enjoy some sunshine! Just like each week before, you can finish these activities in one day or stretch them out over the week, it's up to you!

    1) Click the word work activities below:

This is a game to play with at least two people. Pick a card from the pile and read it as fluently as you can. If you can read the card, you get to keep it. If you need more practice, put it back in the pile. Watch out! Some sneaky cards are in the pile! When the cards in the pile are gone, count your cards. The person with the most cards wins!

    2) Click here for a new list of High Frequency/ Trick Words.

These words often don’t follow the rules so they can’t just be sounded out – they need to memorized. Practice by reading and spelling these words in different ways – like sidewalk chalk, write in the sand, build with magnets, etc. We will add to this list each week!

    3) Click here to read a silly poem called A Peanut Sat on a Railroad Track. You can read it online or print it out.

This week, we are reading a poem that is meant to be funny. Practice reading the words until you can read them smoothly. You can read it using a different voices, if you would like. When I read the words "Toot! Toot!", I always move my arm like I am ringing a bell.  Have fun with it!

Hello, friends! You did a wonderful job reading the articles about inventions. I loved your comments you wrote in the "Class Book of Knowledge!".

This week, we will read another passage from Readworks.org but it will be a little different. It is a realistic fiction story about a girl feeling nervous about going to sleepaway camp. The author writes that she has butterflies in her stomach. Can you make a connection to feeling anxious or excited about something? I get a funny feeling in my stomach when that happens, too! Do you?

Please read the story and complete the vocabulary and comprehension questions.
